What is Herreira’s warranty policy?

Is the Herreira atelier in Goiânia open for visits?

Plating and quality

What exactly is 18k plating?
18k plating is a layer of 18-karat gold (75% pure gold, 25% other metals for alloy and color) applied by electrodeposition over a brass or 925 silver base. Thickness, measured in microns, defines the useful life. Thin plating lasts months; 10-micron plating like Herreira’s lasts years.
What is the practical difference between 1 micron and 10 microns of plating?
The difference is exponential in durability. 1 micron plating resists about 60 to 90 days of daily wear before showing wear. 10 micron plating resists 5 to 7 years. Production cost rises 4 to 6 times, but cost per year of use drops about 80%.
Why did Herreira choose 10 to 15 microns instead of 1 to 3?
It was a founding decision made by Patrícia in 2008, against the popular market average. The criterion was not marketing, it was customer loyalty: a customer who returns to buy a fourth piece in eight months pays far more over a lifetime than one who changes brands every three months because of peeling plating. Engineering became commercial strategy.
Why does thin plating peel so fast?
The gold layer is so thin (half to one micron) that it barely covers the pores of the base alloy. In contact with sweat (acidic pH), perfume, cream, and skin friction, the layer wears in spots and exposes the brass beneath, which darkens in days. It is structural failure, not user error.
Can I wear my Herreira piece with perfume and cream?
Yes, with application care. Every Herreira piece has a ceramic varnish layer (E-Coat) over the 18k plating, creating a barrier against perfume and cream. But the ideal is to apply perfume first, wait 30 seconds for fixation, and only then put on the piece. Cream can be applied freely; direct perfume reduces useful life.
How do I clean semijewelry at home without damaging the plating?
Use warm water with mild neutral soap, rub with soft cotton cloth in light circular motions, rinse under running water, dry with dry cloth. Avoid products with chlorine, alcohol, or abrasives. For extra shine, polish with dry microfiber flannel. Never use a brush, sponge, or general cleaning product.
Why do some people have allergic reactions to semijewelry and others do not?
The most common reaction is contact dermatitis to nickel, present as intermediate plating in many semijewelry pieces. Sensitive skin releases nickel through sweat, and the salt contacts the skin. The solution is a piece with palladium intermediate plating (hypoallergenic) or 925 silver base. Herreira has offered a hypoallergenic line since 2018.
How does quality inspection work at the Herreira factory?
Every plating batch has a sample taken to the Bruker S1 Titan XRF analyzer before being released. What is the minimum order to resell at wholesale?
The minimum order varies according to the current price list and region. In general, it is sized to fit beginning resellers (smaller starter kit) and experienced resellers (larger volume with progressive discount).
What is the delivery time for wholesale orders?
Wholesale orders have a 7 to 12 business day shipping window, counted from payment confirmation. Additional freight varies from 2 to 7 business days depending on region. Urgent orders can be prioritized by prior arrangement with the commercial team.
How does retail shipping work?

What is Herreira Academy?
Herreira Academy is the digital atelier of Herreira Semijoias. It is a continuing education platform for semijewelry resellers, with 10 tracks curated personally by Patrícia Caramaschi covering technical fundamentals, sales, service, brand, pricing, social media, management, and entrepreneurship. Accessible at academy.herreirasemijoias.com.br.
Who can take Herreira Academy courses?
Anyone interested in reselling semijewelry, with or without prior experience. Registration is free. The Fundamentos Herreira track is open to everyone; more advanced tracks follow availability within the Academy plan. There is no formal prerequisite or time limit to complete.
What is the Herreira Academy certificate worth?
The certificate is a Herreira Partner seal officially recognized by the brand, with public verification QR code and cross-validation on the platform. It is valid as a technical-mastery credential for the reseller to present to end customers and commercial partners. It is not a credential formally regulated by the Ministry of Education, but it is a consolidated reference within the Herreira network.

LGPD, exchanges and warranty

How do retail exchanges work?
Retail-purchased pieces can be exchanged within 30 days for another of equal or greater value (paying the difference), provided they are unused and in original packaging. To initiate, contact retail +55 (62) 98173-0039 with invoice and piece. Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.
What is the warranty term and what does it cover?
The contractual warranty is 2 years, counted from the invoice. It covers manufacturing defects in plating (premature peeling), solders (structural rupture), clasps (mechanical failure) and stone setting (stone loss). It does not cover inadequate use: contact with abrasive chemicals, structural impact, deformation by external force.
Can I return a piece and request a refund?
Yes, within the legal 7-day term for distance purchases (Law 8078/90, Brazilian Consumer Defense Code), known as right of withdrawal. The piece must be unused and in original packaging. After this term, Herreira offers exchange, but refund only in cases of manufacturing defect within the warranty.
How does Herreira Academy handle my personal data?
Academy fully complies with LGPD (Law 13709/2018). We collect only the data needed for service (name, email, optionally phone). Data is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest and in transit, and is never sold to third parties. The full policy is at /privacidade.
Can I request export or deletion of my data?
Yes, at any time, as guaranteed by LGPD. For export, email the Herreira Academy DPO listed at /privacidade. Data is delivered in structured file within 15 days. For deletion, the procedure is the same — after confirmed deletion, the account is deactivated and data removed from the database within 30 days, except for legally required records.
